These are young professionals who have been inducted as Y.I.L Fellows. After the four months intensive programme, they have emerged as Fellows. They are professionals in whom we have found some seeds of excellence and we are glad to offer them a platform to scale up their excellence. They were selected from across Africa through a rigorous screening process.
Folakemi Joaloso

Azeezah is a Computer Engineering graduate from the University of Ghana, where she gained valuable knowledge on innovation and providing solutions to real-world problems. She demonstrated leadership as the UG Army Lead for the ARM ENGAGE initiative, organizing workshops on Arduino and embedded design.

Professionally, she served as the Tech and AI Lead at PlastiBuild Creative Solutions Limited, integrating AI and sustainability principles to address environmental challenges. As a Machine Learning Engineer Intern at Zummit Africa, she executed advanced ML tasks and contributed to AI training community development. Her internships at Desevens Digital, RadicalX, and FirstBank Nigeria Limited provided her with hands-on experience in digital marketing, AI engineering, and robotic process automation.

With a solid academic foundation, diverse professional experience, and demonstrated leadership abilities, Azeezah is well-equipped to contribute to innovative projects and drive meaningful impact in the technology sector.

Folakemi Joaloso

Rose Danjuma (Uwanassara) is a Lecturer III based in Nigeria, known for her dedication to mathematics education and research. She holds an MSc in Mathematics from Kaduna State University and a BSc in Mathematics from Federal University Lafia. Rose’s research has made significant contributions to the field, particularly through her development of a sophisticated Mathematical model of COVID-19 infection transmission dynamics. This work, published in the FUDMA Journal of Sciences, integrates complex demographic factors and control strategies, reflecting her commitment to advancing scientific understanding.
With over five years of teaching experience, Rose has positively impacted over 2,000 students by fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Her expertise extends beyond the classroom; she is proficient in IT tools and data analysis, leveraging technology to enhance STEM education. Previously, Rose served as a Content Developer at Miva Open University, where she created engaging educational content, and as a Mathematics Teacher at Topmost International School, where she excelled in coaching students for academic success and organizing extracurricular activities.

Passionate about education and research, Rose actively volunteers with organizations like the School of Mathematics, Nigeria (Somng), providing online coaching and collaborating with educational platforms to promote learning. She is a member of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN), demonstrating her commitment to professional growth and community engagement in the field of mathematics education.

Folakemi Joaloso

Gladys is an advocate for science, technology and innovation (STI) based solutions towards building an ecosystem to tackle key problems. She has experience doing research in information technology, digital skills, STI policies and tourism. Her multidisciplinary experience has led to a currency of knowledge that enables her team up on key projects in diverse contexts.

With a background in Chemistry, she enjoys all facets of developing innovative products from ideation to the final stage. Also, she has a masters degree in Technology management with specialization in science policy and innovation. Having previously worked as a Research & Policy specialist at Technology for Social Change and Development Initiative, she values drawing insights from data to support development and sustainability.

Her overall philosophy is to help individuals feel empowered through future-ready skills and creative thinking.
She enjoys meditating and tasteful experiences.

Bankole Olanrewaju is a Data Reviewer at Smile with Confidence. He holds a degree in Food Science and Technology from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

With a strong background in community service and a passion for leadership, Bankole has consistently pursued opportunities to lead and serve throughout his academic and professional journey. He has been a part of teams that have successfully implemented innovative solutions to complex problems, experiences that have honed his problem-solving skills, communication abilities, and collaborative spirit.

Toheeb Akanbi Musliudeen is an accomplished Economics Research Fellow and Co-founder of the DIGI Impact Initiative, which empowers youth through digital skills training to foster entrepreneurship and reduce poverty. His research expertise spans labor economics, health economics, monetary policy, and policy evaluation, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as debt, capital markets, and inflation’s effects on economic growth.

Toheeb collaborates with international organizations, including the Digital Euro Association, Research Synergy, and IFRA-Nigeria. He has presented his research at global conferences such as the International New York Academic Research Congress and the Istanbul Scientific Research Congress. As an editor and peer reviewer, Toheeb contributes to several academic journals, including the Journal of Financial Accounting and Management and the Journal of Health Economics and Outcomes Research.

His accolades include fellowships with United People Global, Harvard University’s Aspire Leaders Program, and the West Africa Internet Governance Forum. These honors recognize his commitment to leadership, sustainability, and internet governance.

Through his academic contributions and initiatives like DIGI Impact, Toheeb demonstrates a profound dedication to economic research and youth empowerment, making significant strides in community development and digital literacy.

Folakemi Joaloso

Basit Ajibade is a distinguished researcher and product designer. Over the past few years, Basit has collaborated with diverse product teams to create insightful, human-centered products across various industries, including logistics, agritech, e-commerce, and FinTech. Currently, he is the Creative Lead at UpNawt Studio, an online digital solutions agency that serves over 13 businesses in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates. Basit holds a first-class degree in Business Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is a certified Google User Experience Designer and holds a Co-creator Badge in Enterprise Design Thinking from IBM. Basit is a Co-Founder at TechClarity Coach, he also serves as a Mentor for UX Africa, Mentor at TechQuest STEM Program for Females, a Product Mentor at GDG Lafia and has been a Fellow of the Social Science Research Council since 2019. In 2021, he became a Savvy Fellow and won the I4G Hackfest in 2022 and a regional winner and finalist in the African Exchange (AFEX) Ag-Hackathon 2023. Basit is currently a Jim Leech/Mastercard Fellow of Entrepreneurship at Queen’s University, Canada, for 2023-2024. He was the First Runner-up for the Ken Saro Wiwa Prize for Literature in 2023 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Economics and Peace. His interest in research is notable from his over a hundred citations, all from researches as an undergraduate. As a researcher, he has participated in the Reproducible Research Project by the World Bank. He also carried out an African wide research on perception of kidpreneurship education, a research that covered 12 African countries.

Hassan Adam Murtala is a licensed Medical Doctor and clinical Researcher with solid experience in Research. He is currently working as a Site CO Principal Investigator at the African Centre of Excellence for Population and Health Policy (ACEPHAP) SIFCOVAN clinical trial. He has also worked as a Medical Officer / Medical Monitor at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital Kano for the AKTH/Vanderbilt University SAMS clinical trial and as a Medical Officer at the Khalifa Sheikh Isyaka Rabiu pediatric hospital (Northfield Health Service). Hassan also has a Master of Public Health with specialization in Epidemiology. He also completed a Master of infection prevention and control at Bayero University, Kano and currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration, Hospital and Health Care Facilities Administration/Management at JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru, India. He also has training in clinical trials and statistical analysis with R programming.
Murtala is a highly skilled and experienced medical professional with a passion for research and patient care. He is committed to using his skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the health of the Nigerian people.

Folakemi Joaloso

Muhwezi is a Ugandan writer, literacy educator and development practitioner. His writing kicked off with his short story, “Grandpa’s Story” which was long-listed for the Writivism Prize and later published in Picture Frames and Other Stories, an anthology (Boda Books, 2013). His work has also featured in An Anthology of Short Stories and Poems from East Africa (Sentia Publishing, 2014), Boda Boda Anthem and Other Poems (Babishai Niwe, 2015) and The Weight We Carry (Ibua Journal, 2023). He is the founder of Wandiika, a social enterprise that uses story writing to foster creativity among Ugandan school children. In 2021 the International Literacy Association named him as one of the 30 most outstanding young literacy leaders worldwide. He has also been recognised by The New Vision newspaper among 40 most impactful Ugandans below the age of 40. He graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Development Studies from Makerere University, and has expertise in policy analysis, ICT, and education.

Olanrewaju Babalola has over 5 years’ experience in strategic client-facing roles across diverse industries to include education, retail, financial services and most recently, consulting. Olanrewaju had his undergraduate degree in Entrepreneurship from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Nigeria. Olanrewaju is currently a full-time second-year MBA, Business Technology student at the University of Nebraska Omaha while also working part time as a business consultant within the Small Business Development Center program of the Nebraska Business Development Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Olanrewaju is a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) as well as a member of global professional associations in business analysis, business architecture, strategy and economic development. Olanrewaju is a business (entrepreneurship) and technology (innovation) enthusiast. He is passionate about using business transformation & entrepreneurial consulting practices to help individuals, small businesses, startups and high-impact organizations move from surviving/striving to thriving.

Ariel Cyril is a visionary leader and social innovator passionate about leadership development and human capital empowerment. A Zoology graduate from the University of Jos, Nigeria, Ariel is committed to building a society of purposeful, value-driven, and transformational young leaders.

As a public speaker and SDG advocate, Ariel has inspired audiences on personal development, leadership, and global goals. He founded Clarity Hub Africa Initiative to guide young people toward self-discovery, purpose, and excellence, raising uncommon leaders who make meaningful impacts. His dedication earned him the 2023 Top 100 Changemakers on the Plateau award and the United Green Ambassador Award for youth leadership and advocacy.

Currently the Programs Lead at Impact Training Room, Ariel has spearheaded initiatives like the 2023 ITR Teens Conference. During his undergraduate years, he served as Governor of the GOTNI Leadership Club, showcasing exceptional leadership skills. His contributions extend to impactful projects such as the Impact Clinic for Female Students, which addresses critical issues like menstrual hygiene, climate action, and leadership for young girls.

Ariel’s commitment to social change is evident in his work with organizations like the SheThrives Impact Community, where he led initiatives empowering female students. A serial volunteer, he has collaborated with numerous organizations to drive societal transformation.

With interests in tech, mobile photography, and videography, Ariel is exploring innovative ways to impact society. He envisions becoming a global thought leader, inspiring individuals to make the world a better place, starting with their immediate communities.

Augustine Okafor is a visionary entrepreneur known for his adept leadership in project management across diverse sectors. With a strong foundation in entrepreneurship, he has a proven track record of transforming innovative ideas into successful ventures.

His career highlights include spearheading the installation of EGIS Banking software at Great Money Empowerment Centre, significantly enhancing customer acquisition and ROI. He has also led impactful initiatives, such as the feeding program for COVID-19 patients at Umuahia General Hospital, and optimized logistics operations at Sunken Agro and Logistics Limited, underscoring his commitment to driving growth and community development.

Augustine holds a first degree in English Language and Literature and a Google Professional Certificate in Project Management, which has enabled him to foster innovation across various projects.

Bethel is a seasoned sales leader and branch head with a proven track record of driving business growth and customer satisfaction. He excels in developing high-performing teams, building strong relationships, and leveraging data analysis to inform strategic decisions.

With notable achievements, including a 43% increase in his branch’s risk portfolio last year and recognition as the Top Salesperson of the Year in 2021, he is passionate about staying ahead of the curve through continuous learning and skill-building.

Currently, Bethel is a scholar at the University of Edinburgh, where he is pursuing his passion for climate leadership and making a global impact.

Gladys Talata Yin is a 27-year-old graduate with second-class honors in BSc Community Nutrition from the University for Development Studies.

She is a vibrant, proactive, and hardworking individual with strong teamwork abilities, problem-solving capacity, and excellent communication skills.

Gladys is dedicated to bringing out the best in the people she works with. She has also undergone training that provided her with valuable teaching experience.

Gabriel is an Alumni Teacher-Lead for Ghana, a Volunteer in Child Online Protection, a Community Liaison and Leader, a Research Analyst, and a passionate advocate for representing the voiceless. He also serves as a Programs Support Officer.

He collaborated with colleagues to transition the school from using blackboards to white marker boards. He sensitized students and teachers on the importance of adopting innovative teaching and learning methods, which led to the initiation of regular inter-house and inter-class quizzes in the school. He worked with colleagues to acquire learning materials for students who excelled in exams, aiming to motivate them and inspire others to strive for excellence.

Omale Victor is a graduate from Kogi state university , Nigeria. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial chemistry.

Driven by a strong desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of others, Victor has actively sought out opportunities to contribute meaningfully to his community.

Currently, he is the manager of Bright Destiny Multi-Global Company and also serves as a key in Grace Clan Empowerment. In this role, he collaborates with like-minded individuals and organizations to address various social, health, and environmental challenges facing his community.

Paul successfully organized a tech social project event that impacted over 350 secondary school students. The event was endorsed by the Ministry of Education and fully sponsored by his employer, who discovered the initiative on LinkedIn.

He has also organized numerous data analytics bootcamps for professionals and has been invited to facilitate various data sessions.

Additionally, Paul serves as a facilitator for the annual Corps Members Bootcamp, where he contributes to impacting over 1,000 participants each year.

He is deeply committed to bridging the digital divide in his community.

Alabi, Mutiyat Taiye is a medical doctor with an interest in interventional radiology and Artificial intelligence. She is passionate about solving problems faced by the health sector in Nigeria. Her undergraduate degree was obtained from the University of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria in 2018, where she recorded numerous successes in her tenure as president /executive member of various committees, steering the activities on campus forward. Mutiyat did not only focus on academics but also volunteered in community services via a series of medical outreaches, orphanage visitations, and mentorship of junior colleagues in her department.

She received an award of excellence as the hematology course representative of her set. She was recognized as the best in mathematics in her Freshman year. Going forward, she’s on the lookout for various opportunities to explore in detail the realities of the deteriorating status of healthcare delivery in Nigeria, thus building her curiosity and morale. Meanwhile, she remains resilient in developing her skills in the field of medicine, radiology, AI, and leadership.
